Dr. Herschel Flowers created cobra bite vaccine by injecting himself with the venom   Dr. Herschel Flowers began his service in the Army as a veterinarian in 1961 where his mission was to study the development of antivenoms for poisonous snakebites.  Focused initially on special forces Soldiers in Vietnam, Dr, Flowers developed a range of antivenoms for snakes all over the world that has helped millions of people globally.  Read more.   Gifts Kirk Wilson I kept my life in a small room with pale blue walls and brought it back little presents from the world This is for you I would say This is for you Sometimes the gifts died in my hands and often I could not pay the price of their redemption I could never be sure they were appreciated or how much they wanted to be in the place where I had brought them The room filled with less and less space to breathe so instead of gifts I began to bring stories that did not end but slipped away around corners and over horizons I brought premonitions and resistance to closure and left at the end of each day looking for more Copyright © 2022 by Kirk Wilson.  : It is a pleasure to present the following:    We spend so much time on stuff that doesn’t matter, that we don’t even like. Maybe it’s a job or a commute to that job. Maybe it’s doom scrolling on our phone, answering emails. Maybe it’s arguing with a spouse, maybe it’s arguing with strangers on the internet. You know the kind of stuff that you just kinda get sucked into. You hate it but you let it fill up so much of your life.  Marcus Aurelius , frustrated with some obnoxious thing that was consuming his days, once asked himself. “You’re afraid of death,” he said, “because you won’t be able to do  this  anymore?” That’s the thing about memento mori. It’s so clarifying. If you had unlimited time, maybe you wouldn’t mind spending two hours a day in traffic. Maybe you wouldn’t need to steer clear of the cesspool of Twitter or the endlessness of your inbox. If suddenly death was real to you--if you were given a few months or years to live--what would you immediately spend less time doing
